Why do you provide sightseeing tours?

Sunset Flying’s mission is to share with the world how easy flight training is, and how safe general aviation is. Each flight is a demonstration flight that incorporates everything flying is about: Beauty, Freedom, Safety, Structure. Each flight will include a certificated flight instructor explaining aircraft structure and operation, FAA safety regulations, the fundamentals of flying and navigation. We are the only company that has a focus on having you actively learning to fly over the most beautiful sights in southern California, instead of just getting a ride.

Is it safe?

Flying today's modern aircraft is safe and comfortable. The airplanes used are subject to very strict FAA maintenance requirements. Our pilots have a perfect safety record. All piolets are both licensed commercial pilots and are required to hold the advanced ratings for flight instructors.

Can I take pictures?

Absolutely, we would love to have you capture your flight on film or video. For best results high speed film or digital camera that allows you to turn off the flash and allows you to record video is recommended.

Can I touch the controls?

Yes! Remember all of our pilots are flight instructors. We would love to show you how all of the controls work, let you fly the plane for a short period and even give you a logbook showing that you received flight training.

How far ahead do I make a reservation?

Several days in advance is best to guarantee you a specific flight. Even same day flights can usually be made. Call us anytime to ask!

How much does it time and money will it be to learn to fly and get a pilot certificate?

There are a lot of variables that affect the cost of learning to fly, including how often you fly and how willing you are to study before each flight. The national average for a private pilot, your first license, is 85 hours but many people are able to finish in roughly half the time and money with a little dedication to flying at least twice a week and doing the homework assigned. Sunset Flying makes it easy for people by giving them the two required government textbooks and a written curriculum to follow for free. This program can save the student several thousand dollars.
